Hello friends,
today's post doesn't have lots to do with theatre, but I thought this would be an important topic to touch on and share some tips that I have with you. Today's post is on confidence and how to be happy with yourself. You have to have some confidence to be able to do theatre. I mean, after all, you are singing, dancing and speaking in front of a large group of people. So, if this is something your struggling with, then I would like to help. I think confidence is a very important thing to have in life, especially at my age, as a teenager, people can be judgemental and you feel pressure to "fit in." Although, when you push all that aside, you will be majorly happy! So let's get into it.
Look at the bigger picture-
Whenever I feel as though I need to conform instead of being myself, I usually try to look at the bigger picture. Things like, "Life is short." Think about it this way, is it going to matter in a year if you decided to wear what you like rather than what everyone else is wearing? No. Also, life is short, so do anything and everything while you can.
Fake it till you make it-
One of the best things to do is to pretend like your confident and try your best to look confident, soon enough you will be. Also, if your just starting acting/performing try to be super confident and really get into your character, push any negative thoughts away. If you do this, then soon enough you will be getting compliments on how great your performance was because of how "in character" you were.
Smile-
Another thing to do when trying to become confident is to smile, even if its hard. If you are smiling as much as possible, you will look happy, confident and proud. This sort of goes with the last tip, if your smiling and looking confident, you will start to feel confident soon enough.
Present yourself well-
When you get into the habit of good hygiene and an appearance that your comfortable with and you like, you'll feel better about yourself. When you present yourself well, others will realize it and maybe even compliment you.
Think of any obstacles in the way of being confident-
By doing this, you can make a list of all the things you can do to prepare and be more confident for the next time. If you recognize any struggles that you have with confidence, this can help so you can be prepared and ready to take on your next experience with confidence.
That's all for today, friends. I hope you take these tips into consideration and enjoyed this post!
